Regional commitments must translate into better cancer care for Caribbean people.
The Caribbean Association for Oncology and Hematology (CAOH) was pleased to participate in the Fifty-Third COHSOD–Health Meeting, held in Washington on 25-26th September 2026, contributing to two connected regional priorities:

🔹 Establishing a Member State-led Regional Technical Committee for Regional Cancer Control, with an update from the CARICOM Secretariat. This work follows the mandate championed by Guyana’s Minister of Health, the Hon. Dr. Frank Anthony, following CAOH’s 2025 presentation.
🔹 Implementing the Caribbean Harmonized Cancer Treatment Guidelines across Member States, with CAOH contributing technical expertise to support their adoption and use in national care settings.

Together, these priorities connect country leadership, regional coordination and clinical guidance—with the aim of strengthening evidence-based care and reducing inequities in access to cancer treatment.

For patients and families, progress means clearer pathways to care, timely treatment and greater confidence that quality cancer services are within reach.
CAOH thanks the CARICOM Secretariat, Ministers of Health, CARPHA and regional partners for their continued commitment. We look forward to working alongside Member States to turn regional decisions into practical improvements in cancer care.

One Caribbean. Shared responsibility. Better cancer outcomes.
