The Caribbean Association for Oncology and Haematology (C.A.O.H)

The Caribbean Association for Oncology and Haematology (CAOH) is a Not for Profit, Non-Governmental Organization.

CAOH was re-incorporated in July 2017 to address the developing needs of Trinidad and Tobago, as well as those of the Caribbean, in the field of Haematology and Oncology.

The Association operates under the patronage of Mrs. Sharon Rowley.
Through the support of our kind partners, CAOH has been able to make an impact on Cancer and Hematology care in the Caribbean and Latin America. We have undertaken a number of events on our quest to improve Cancer care while also encouraging healthy lifestyles generally.

The CAOH team operates with the following objectives:

  • To support and improve cancer patient care in the Caribbean region, with Trinidad and Tobago driving these initiatives.
  • To establish a database for up-to-date, contemporary information on cancer care and prevention.
  • To increase and advance the education of physicians and other professionals who provide care for patients with cancer.
  • To accommodate and encourage increased communication among cancer-related medical sub-specialties and to facilitate the exchange of cancer-related ideas, including its biology, diagnosis, staging, treatment, and psychosocial impact.
  • To advocate to the Government the need for patients’ access to high-quality cancer care including the availability of state-of-the-art oncology drugs and radiation treatment.
  • To support and assist Oncologists in dealing with the current difficulties of practicing this Specialty.
  • To reaffirm the commitment made in September 2007, at the signing of the landmark Declaration of Port of Spain by Regional Governments, with the primary objective of combating Non-Communicable diseases including cancer.  The resolve was made by Government leaders at that ceremony 10 years ago to achieve the advancement of Haematology and Oncology Management through collaborations with public and private stakeholders. The CAOH steering committee believes that reiterating this commitment will serve as a public inspiration and catalyst to engage new partners in the fight against cancer.
CAOH is represented by a number of well respected doctors in the Caribbean Region
